Nielsen Powers Falcons to Finals

TORONTO, Ont - Nicole Nielsen exploded in the second half with a hat trick in thirteen minutes to help the Fanshawe Falcons defeat the Durham Lords 3-0.

With the wind picking up and temperatures dropping, the two teams battled both their opponent and the elements in search of a spot in the Gold Medal game.

Following a scoreless first half, Nielsen left her mark on the championship, scoring her first of the match in the 58th minute. A perfectly placed shot in the lower right corner of the goal put the Falcons up 1-0.

In the 64th minute, Nielsen struck again. After taking a pass, Nielsen dribbled the ball to the top right corner of the six yard box and fired a shot just inside the far post.

Nielsen completed the hat trick in the 71st minute. Jade Kovacevic centered a pass across from the end line right to Nielsen who was left along for a three goal lead.

The win puts the Falcons into the Gold Medal game tomorrow at 3:00pm against the _________________. The Lords will play for the Bronze Medal tomorrow at 12:00pm against the ______________________.

Nielsen was named Player of the Game for the Falcons while Milinda Roblero took the honours for the Lords.
